Unlike traditional resolutions that often focus on specific, rigid goals, setting intentions is about the broader, deeper values and feelings we want to cultivate in the year ahead.
Why Set Intentions?
Setting intentions is a powerful exercise because it guides our mindset and actions throughout the year. It's about aligning our daily choices with our overarching aspirations, whether that’s to be more present, cultivate gratitude, or embody resilience. Intentions give us direction without the pressure of strict goals or the fear of failure.
How to Set Intentions for the Year:
1. Reflect on Values: Consider what truly matters to you. Is it health, connection, creativity, growth?
2. Choose a Theme: Instead of a specific goal, think of a theme or a feeling you want to embrace. For example, ‘Year of Growth’ or ‘Embracing Courage’.
3. Visualize and Feel: Spend some time visualizing how this intention will manifest in your life. What does it look like? How does it feel?
4. Write it Down: Articulate your intention in a journal or a vision board. Writing it down gives it power and makes it tangible.
5. Incorporate Daily: Find small ways to incorporate your intention into your daily life. It could be through affirmations, choices, or setting smaller milestones.
My Experience with Setting Intentions:
Last year, my intention was to ‘Embrace Well-being’. It wasn’t just about fitness or diet; it was about feeling wholesome, energetic, and balanced.
